Getting kinda ♥♥♥♥ed because this was a game I was definitely looking forward to playing. Anybody got a reason why it won't open? I checked a site that reads my hardware and said not only can I run this game, I can run it on high graphics, so my specs shouldn't be the issue. Do you also have win7 64bit? Because if you do I think I see a pattern.
If you do have win7, then maybe this issue is mostly on Win7 64bit, which I also have. But im doubting to buy the game because of all these issues. Originally posted by:I have no idea either. I bought it, it worked for the first few times I opened it and now I just get a black screen for a millisecond and won't start everytime I try! I've checked other threads, I've verified the integity of the game files, tweaked compatibility mode, etc, nothing is working! And I'm on Windows 7 64-bit btw.

I think we might have to wait until Koei patch it again, if they are even aware of this issue. Well there were 2 patches already i guess some people are still having problems but yeah changing the compatability does help, or if you have Nvidia open the control panel, manage 3D settings and global settings and put preferred graphics processor to High performance nvidia processor Not sure if this works for everyone.
Hello, I'm playing normally on Windows 10 here, so it's not an OS problem. DirectX 11 isn't something that is 'installed', it's a resource built-in your video board, plus the game requires DX9 to run, so your video board is probably enough to run it (unless you're playing games in a toaster). First I would recommend going to /steamapps/common/Dynasty Warriors 8/CommonRedist and run both DirectX/Jun2010/DXSETUP.exe and vcredist/2010/vcredistx64.exe (vcredistx86.exe if your OS is 32 bit). If it doesn't run, try updating your video board drivers and check the integrity of the game files (on Steam, right-click on the game on Library, go in Properties Local Files Verify integrity of game cache). If even then it doesn't run, press Windows + R, type dxdiag on the box and paste the System Info here, 'cause something is problem wrong there. For the controller, I'm using a basic Xbox 360 Wireless controller.
The only thing that you must be sure is that it's connected and turned on before you start the game. The game doesn't recognise controllers that were connected after it starts. After that go to Options Controllers Button Settings in-game and you should be able to map the buttons. As I could see, DW8 uses DirectInput for controllers, so it's more likely to work on non-Xbox 360 compatible controllers as well. Just make sure it's turned on before you start the game.

Be good.:yaranaika: / I tried everything from these, and the game still doesn't work. In one thread, I read about problem with sound devices. I tried to turn off all of them, and before I did that this happened when strating the game: I turn on the game (even the loading text doesn't show), and I get black screen with Windows error: program DW8XLCE stopped working. The problem caused that, that the program ended working correctly.
System Windows will close the program and give you a notification, if it shall find an able solution. Then I have no choice, but to close the program. When I turn off all of the sound devices, I get a black screen, which will close itself in few seconds. Please, don't ou know how to fix it? I really tried nearly everything.
